Contest to Capture a Legend
Whisper Tree Creative Experiment, an online-based publishing and production company, presents “The Legend of Maggie LaRue” Video Contest. Starting April 16, 2008, videographers, filmmakers and adventurers are invited to register for this opportunity to capture a “legend” and win prizes.
“The Legend of Maggie LaRue” is a pre-written storyline divided into twenty-four (24) episodes. Each installment will provide a fifteen (15) day video contest, two (2) contests a month over the next year with the exception of December 2008*. Each contest has a $15 entry fee from which the proceeds will be donated to the amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) and Equality Now charities, with the exception of December 2008*.
Once contestants have registered and paid the entry fee, they will be provided an episode script (3-5 minutes long.) Contestants have until a specific deadline to: film and edit, upload to YouTube and add their video entry to the “The Legend of Maggie LaRue” Video Contest group page, and promote their video. The Top Ten videos with the most views by the thirteenth (13) day of the contest will be entered into the final judging stage. A winner will be announced on the fifteenth (15) day of the contest. Only one winner per episode contest with the exception of December 2008*.
*December 2008 will provide only one contest with an extended ten (10)minute episode. Two winners will be announced and awarded prizes. An additional charity donation will be made to the “Toys for Tots” organization.
Contestants are encouraged to take artistic and creative liberties with the Art Direction, Cinematography, and Editing of each episode. The only constraint imposed will be the dialogue. Please keep true to the written script. This is an experiment in eclectic expression, to see how different people artistically interpret the same given material.
